Part II Seagrass

The term seagrass is used for a variety of flowering plants, such as water hyacinth, that grow in shallow waters. Philippine seagrasses are not related to seaweed but are more closely akin to the lily. The stems are distinctly triangular, and the leaves are broad and long.  The stems The Philippine handicraft and furniture industries are utilizing seagrass stems as a component and accent parts of selected furniture, handicrafts and other saleable household items. In the furniture industry, the two terms, i.e. seagrass and water hyacinth are sometimes used interchangeably.
